George Kontomichalis approaches his debut album as a web of ideas, encounters and improvised movement. The music springs from the moment - but it lingers, layers, opens up new paths between tradition and the present.

Influenced by post-bop, hard bop and modal concepts without being firmly bound to them, George places particular emphasis on the holistic interplay of rhythm, harmony and melody. His pieces are characterized by multi-layered rhythmic structures, harmonic openness and an intense sonic exploration aimed at creating authentic and profound musical experiences.

Each track arises from an impulse - be it a mood, a thought or a sonic texture - and evolves through the interaction of the musicians. The focus is on improvisation, not as a virtuoso act, but as collective listening, reacting and creating. Music as a conversation - not as a message.

This music does not think in terms of concepts, it thinks in sound. It does not invite to be understood, but to be felt. The album thus becomes an open vessel: for thoughts, moods, fragments of memory. For what lies between the notes.
