Geschichten aus dem Leben mit Negotiating Power und Peng! Impro in deutscher Gebärden- und Lautsprache
In the organizer's words:
This improv show is inspired by experiences from the dance performance “Negotiating Power” by Nona Siepmann and her team.
“Negotiating Power” is a physical rebellion—raw, powerful, and vibrant. By combining contemporary dance, krump, sign language poetry, and Kandyan dance, the project creates a compelling performance about reflecting on and negotiating power dynamics. Expressive and grounded in reality, the project explores various forms of discrimination, some of which are reproduced unconsciously.
In this edition of Stories from Life, we focus on the perspectives of Nona Siepmann (choreographer) and Indika Sandaruwan (Deaf performer and dancer in the piece) regarding the development of “Negotiating Power.” Together, they paint a multifaceted picture: from power negotiations and personal experiences to sign language poetry and Kandyan dance. Drawing on the performance and interviews, Peng! brings scenes, stories, songs, and characters to life on stage. Dance, improvisational performance, and interviews alternate throughout the show.
The entire show will be translated into German sign language and spoken German.
From 3:00–5:00 p.m., there will also be a free workshop titled “Playing Power – Empower Yourself and Share!” For more information and to register, visit: https://www.yesticket.org/event/de/playing-power-empower-yourself-and-share-15-11-26/
