GILGAMESH - leben ohne zu sterben

In the organizer's words:

Theater des Bellevue di Monaco at Fat Cat - shortlisted for the Theatertreffen der Jugend 2024

Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk, a city located in modern-day Iraq. He is both god and man. Instead of marrying and ruling, he would rather travel the world with his friend Enkidu and go on adventures. When his beloved friend dies, he searches for the meaning of life and death. It is about power and powerlessness, love and loss, about gods and humans, about the greed of the powerful and the fear of the end of the world.

The play was developed in weekly rehearsals together with the performers at Bellevue di Monaco. The group consists of young people with and without a history of flight. Many of the performers are familiar with the Gilgamesh epic, as it is also told in the countries from which they had to flee.
