A day for soccer, empowerment and community in Wedding

On Saturday, 23 May 2026, the Safe-Hub Berlin will once again become a lively meeting place for the neighborhood. The Girls Hub Festival brings together children, young people, families and initiatives and creates a space for movement, encounters and empowerment. Free admission and all are welcome.

🌟 Focus on girls - focus on the community

At the heart of the festival is the idea of making girls visible in sport and giving them the space to try themselves out, build self-confidence and find their voice. At the same time, it is about involving the community as a whole and working together to make sport fairer and more accessible for everyone. Boys are explicitly welcome - not only as players, but also as supporters and part of positive change.

⚽ Football tournament with attitude

The heart of the day is a soccer tournament in which both all-girl teams and mixed teams can take part. The focus is not just on sporting success, but above all on fair play, team spirit and mutual respect. Special awards such as prizes for the best team spirit or the strongest support from outside show that this is about more than just goals - it's about team spirit and community.

🎉 Festival grounds: join in, share, experience

An open festival area is created around the sports field with many opportunities to participate and exchange ideas. Between the games, there will be space for discussions in which girls, coaches and participants share their experiences and talk about why they play soccer, the challenges they face and what needs to change in sport. These voices are also made visible, for example on a large statement wall where thoughts and wishes are collected. In addition, a pledge board invites people to consciously campaign for more support and equality in sport.

Those who want to express themselves creatively will find various opportunities to join in: You can design your own buttons, paint faces or take photos with colorful Girl Power props. A photo station ensures that memories of the day can be taken home with you. At the same time, there are always little playful activities such as soccer challenges, tricks with experienced coaches or a quiz about equal rights in sport. This combines learning, fun and exercise in a very natural way.

🎶 Atmosphere, music and neighborhood cuisine

Music provides the right atmosphere, accompanying the festival throughout the day and creating an open, positive mood. The event will be hosted by female role models who will guide you through the day and provide additional inspiration. The festival is also firmly anchored in the neighbourhood in culinary terms: snacks and food are organized together with parents and supporters from the neighbourhood and invite people to talk to each other and spend time together.

🍿 Joint conclusion

A special highlight is the joint conclusion of the day. At the public viewing of the Women's Champions League final, everyone comes together once again to share in the excitement and make female role models in professional sport visible. This moment connects the festival with the big stage of soccer and sends a strong signal for the importance of equality in sport.

❤️ Why the festival is important

The Girls Hub Festival is aimed at girls aged around seven to fifteen, participants in the Safe Hub programs as well as families, friendsand anyone in the neighborhood who wants to have an open and positive community day. It doesn't matter whether you actively participate in the tournament or just drop by - everyoneis welcome.

Because girls in sport are often confronted with structural hurdles, the festival deliberately sets an example. It creates visibility, boosts self-confidence and brings people together. Above all, however, it shows that sport can be more than just exercise - namely a place for encounters, learning and social change.

The Girls Hub Festival will take place on May 23, 2026 from around 15:00 to 20:30 at Safe-Hub Berlin at Ruheplatzstraße 12 in Berlin-Wedding. Admission is free of charge.
