In 1874, Giuseppe Verdi composed his impressive Requiem, in which he makes effective use of musico-dramatic means and explores the boundaries between church and art with a twinkle in his eye. The Dresden Festival Orchestra, the newly founded Dresden Festival Choir and an outstanding ensemble of soloists present the work in the Frauenkirche. Under the direction of Lan Shui, Verdi's Messa da Requiem will be performed on period instruments in all its density, grandeur and power.
