In the organizer's words:

Artist Heide Kemper looks back on 30 years at the Depot.
Heide Kemper is a co-initiator and founding member of the Depot. As a member of the board, she has helped to make the depot what it is today: a lively cultural venue that has developed charisma beyond Dortmund.
As an artist, with her material glass, she has left her mark not only in Dortmund.

Environment and society - critical reflection in glass
Since her first solo exhibition in 1994 entitled "I am privileged - about poverty & wealth and war & peace", Heide Kemper has been dealing with problems and questions of the world, with the threat of overpopulation and the resulting problems of environmental destruction, displacement and flight.
The artist makes use of numerous techniques: Large-format fusing works are dedicated to the destruction of the rainforest, kiln-formed and sand-cast objects are dedicated to climate change, while sandblasting and mixed techniques have been used to create objects that address the consumption of resources and rising sea levels.
In 1996, the artist depicted the streams of refugees in Rwanda using hot-molded bottles with a human appearance. They are reused in the central installation of a refugee barge in the current exhibition. The new fusing series "After this Earth" is dedicated to the expected climatic changes in our world. Small mirror boxes provide a view of an infinite projection of people and resources. The objects hand-blown or cast in sand molds by Heide Kemper in the glassworks complement the artistic oeuvre.
In addition to the exhibition, Heide Kemper gives visitors an insight into the history of the depot and her studio. Watch the artist at work.
