With his Poems by Alpha, Adi Gelbart presents his music to accompany poetry composed by Alpha, a computer AI. Rather than trying to imitate poems by humans, Alpha makes no excuses for being a machine and is designed to do as poorly as possible on the Turing test. In contrast, by striving for a harmonic and emotional depth, Gelbart’s music closes the gap between a creative artificial intelligence and the human audience. At the Museum of Communication Berlin, Gelbart is presenting some earlier pieces together with a solo show of his programme originally composed for a string quartet.
Adi Gelbart is a self - taught multi- instrumentalist, composer, filmmaker, author, and  programmer. Born in Tel Aviv, he has lived and worked in Berlin since 2005. His lifelong creative artistic obsession has led to over 20 LPs and EPs in vastly different  styles, as  well as many other works. He has recently published his first novel. Gelbart’s music forms a unique artistic cosmos, a surrealist mirror universe which, in a minimalist yet wonderfully complex way, merges jazz, musique concrète, rock, and the most danceable electronic synthesiser beats.

Die dreiteilige Veranstaltungsreihe GLITCHES untersucht in Lesungen, Gesprächen und Musik die besonderen Stör-Phänomene der (pop-)kulturellen Digitalisierung, von Deep-Fake und Hyper-Ironie über KI-Musik bis hin zu Social Media-Literatur und live programmierten Algorithmen. „Glitches“ sind Störungen im System, Unterbrechungen der virtuellen Welt, die uns an der erlebten Realität zweifeln lassen: Was ist real, was Simulation? Als Teil der postdigitalen Popkultur ist der “Glitch” zu einem bewusst eingesetzten ästhetischen Stilmittel geworden. Ist es menschengemacht oder IS IT A GLITCH?!

Die Veranstaltungsreihe findet im Rahmen der Ausstellung #neuland. Ich, wir und die Digitalisierung und in Kooperation mit dem Projekt Stand, Land, Kiez. Nachbarschaften in der Berliner Gegenwartsliteratur am Leibniz-Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung statt.
