The concert evening is dedicated to Tango Nuevo and its most important pioneer Astor Piazzolla. With radical independence, Piazzolla liberated the tango from its traditional function as dance music and brought it into the concert hall. His compositions combine the rhythmic intensity and emotional directness of Argentinian tango with elements of classical music, complex forms and the freedom of jazz.

Piazzolla's music thrives on sharp contrasts: pulsating energy and lyrical intimacy, strict construction and improvisational gestures. It tells of urban life, melancholy and passion and has made the tango a timeless art form that is received worldwide. In addition to Piazzolla's central works, other compositions will be heard that reflect and expand this musical cosmos and enter into a lively dialog with his style.

Frederike Möller (piano) works as a musician at the interface of concert practice, music education and cultural organization. Her activities include solo and chamber music projects as well as conceptual concert formats with a focus on music of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Marko Kassl (accordion & bandoneon) is internationally active as a soloist and chamber musician. He regularly collaborates with contemporary composers and is involved in projects that combine classical music, contemporary sound languages and improvisational elements.

Robert Beck (clarinet) is active as a chamber musician in various contemporary music ensembles. His work takes him to concert and festival appearances at home and abroad, with a particular focus on ensemble and project work.

Playing together, a tango evening full of rhythmic energy and chamber music closeness unfolds.
