The Siegburg City Museum invites you to a concert featuring Armenian musician Grigor Shagoyan on Saturday, September 5, at 7:30 p.m. As a bass-baritone, guitarist, and oud player, he blends the musical traditions of his homeland with influences from flamenco, jazz, Latin American music, gypsy jazz, and contemporary world music in his program.

Shagoyan is regarded as a versatile artist who blends different musical cultures and styles. In addition to various guitars, he also plays the oud, an oriental short-necked lute, thereby expanding the sonic spectrum of his program. The concert is complemented by his distinctive bass-baritone voice, which lends the works a special expressiveness.

About twenty years ago, Grigor Shagoyan came to Germany from Armenia to study classical voice and guitar. After gaining his first musical experience in rock bands, his path led him to international opera and concert stages. His career includes engagements at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Beirut State Theater, as well as performances with renowned artists such as Montserrat Caballé and Joscho Stephan. He is also the founder of the ensembles “Trio Aguas” and “Bistro Manouche.”

In his program, Shagoyan blends the musical traditions of his native Armenia with elements from Latin America, gypsy jazz, and modern music. This creates fascinating soundscapes in which folk melodies meet spirited rhythms, delicate original compositions, and the freedom of improvisation.
