Lecture by Björn Klaassen
Cracking icebergs, fog, sun, storms and lonely fjord landscapes. Greenland is the largest island in the world - 83% is covered in ice. Ingrid & Björn Klaassen from Kiefersfelden in the Inn Valley have been traveling the coast with their two sea kayaks for many years in the summer months to reach inaccessible areas and climb lonely mountains. They cross sensational mountain landscapes. Rotten firn fields, raging rivers and impassable terrain are the constant challenges. In their kayaks, the two of them cross the thick fog between the skerries of West Greenland.
With them: a tent, a fishing rod, a camera and regularly too little food. They even have a paraglider in their luggage for flying over spectacular mountains. When Arctic foxes sneak around the tent, humpback whales dive under the kayaks and blue icebergs break into pieces with a roar, it is literally breathtaking. And then, of course, there are the impressive encounters with the Greenlanders in settlements on the edge of the world. The lecture is about a fantastic kayak trip from south to north - from Cape Farvel further and further towards North Greenland. 2,600 km of adventure are still in the logbook today. Come along and experience the ice!
