GUANO APES - FREE THE MONKEY TOUR 2024

If you open your ears on the Jungfernstieg in Hamburg, at the Kulturforum in Berlin or at the Ostfildern skatepark in Stuttgart, you will always hear "Lords of the Boards" blaring out of the speakers alongside more recent music. Even though the song is actually dedicated to snowboarding and was released back in 1997, the track by the Guano Apes has remained an anthem for all those who move spectacularly on boards over the ground and through the air. The success of the two single hits "Open Your Eyes" and "Lords" also made the legendary "Proud Like A God" by the Lower Saxons one of the most successful debut albums far and wide, selling millions of copies and staying in the charts for over a year - which the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry honored with the IFPI award at the time. An 18-month tour through Europe and the USA also made the powerful crossover rock from Göttingen internationally known live. In June 2014, the ARD morning show summarized: "At the end of the 90s, nothing worked without them: The Guano Apes rocked every stadium, every festival, the really big halls with their mixture of hard rock guitar planks, hip-hop and the melodious chanting of frontwoman Sandra Nasić." Not much has changed to this day. Three number one albums and several international tours have taken their toll and led to a break of several years in the noughties. However, the Apes have come back from this break much more relaxed, a little poppier and, above all, with their old strength. They last went on a very successful European tour in 2017 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut, and now they are finally back on the road: after more than two years away from the stage due to coronavirus, the band is hungry and happy to be back on stage, the place where they feel most directly connected to their fans.
