The renowned Argentinian pianist and composer Guillermo Klein will be performing in Leipzig for the first time - on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 20:00 at Horns Erben. The concert offers a rare opportunity to experience one of the most independent and original musicians on the contemporary jazz scene live.

The project was launched in early 2025 by Klein and his compatriot, drummer and composer Pablo Tarantino. For this special evening, they have put together an outstanding ensemble of musicians from Leipzig's vibrant jazz scene: Roman Polatzky (alto saxophone), Linus Bornheim (trumpet), Willy Valdivia (bass) and Mateus Schneider (guitar).

For over three decades, Guillermo Klein has been developing an unmistakable musical oeuvre that defies easy categorization. His music is deeply rooted in jazz, but combines it with elements of Argentinian folklore, classical forms, minimalism and influences from composers such as Bach and Stravinsky. The result is a world of sound that is at once personal, complex and deeply human.

Klein's career has taken him from Buenos Aires via Boston and New York to Spain, where he now works as a composer, bandleader and lecturer. He is known for his long-standing collaborations with artists such as Chris Cheek, Miguel Zenón, Larry Grenadier, Bill McHenry, Jeff Ballard, Seamus Blake, Aaron Goldberg and Jorge Rossy, who bring his multi-layered compositions to life on international stages.

For the concert in Leipzig, Klein and Tarantino will present a selection of their own works and arrangements that reflect their shared passion for rhythm, timbre and melody. The audience can look forward to an evening full of improvisation, subtle interaction and musical storytelling - a rare concert experience that brings together worlds of sound, traditions and generations.
