Hamburger Horizonte: Dating Unsafe Times

The “Hamburger Horizonte” event series was launched to foster an open dialogue between academia and society. In 2026, numerous events will focus on the theme “On Security.” This year, the ligeti zentrum offers three perspectives on an uncertain future: Lynn T. Musiol reads about grief and queer practices; Benjamin Sprick and Christian Tschirner discuss control, sabotage, and spontaneity; Çağlar Yiğitoğulları explores life in a new world and whether we can learn to walk again on a pile of shards.

The situation is tense. The “systemic crisis” (Philipp Staab) is impossible to ignore. Between exhaustion and excitement, between withdrawal and a new beginning—how do we actually deal with this uncertainty? And how can we approach what frightens us through art, rather than letting it paralyze us?
Philosopher and musician Benjamin Sprick and palliative dramaturg Christian Tschirner invite the audience to explore precisely these questions together—and in the process, to consider how we might outwit tech autocrats.

In his performance, performer and director Çağlar Yiğitoğulları explores what life is like in a new world. How do we move and interact with one another when the world as we knew it will be gone forever? How do we deal with our fears and our insecurities? What gives us stability, what gives us security? Will we inevitably end up living on a vast pile of shards? Or can we learn to walk again—on glass?
