Hamlet is dead - and with him his family and friends. Only Horatio, his closest confidant, remains behind: he must live on, remember and tell the story. But how can you tell a story when the world has fallen apart at the seams? The ghosts of his friends come to his side to help him, and together they struggle and play to understand the tragic events. Why did they act the way they did? Can playing for each other help us to understand each other and ourselves better?
Julia Riedler, named Actress of the Year by Theater heute and recently awarded the Nestroy Prize, shows a joint struggle for truth in her first directorial work: in her Hamlet, narrative and play, reality and appearance, life and death become blurred. A space opens up in which past and present can be questioned anew.
