Hansel and Gretel is perhaps the best-known fairy tale in Europe. The songs "Suse liebe Suse was raschelt im Stroh" and "Brüderchen komm tanz mit mir" are at least as well known. Perhaps less well known is the fact that they were composed by Engelbert Humperdinck. With this opera, he created one of the most beautiful and popular operas for children. For the Märchenhafte Operncompagnie, four singers, a pianist and a narrator sing, play and tell the story, inviting young and old to experience this well-known fairy tale. Set designer Tina Zimmermann has developed a video concept for the stage in which hand-drawn and computer-animated scenes are projected onto two screens, supporting the music and story in a modern way.
