Harold Lloyd (1893 - 1971), one of the three great comedians of silent film alongside Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, plays a young man from a small village who moves to the big city to become rich and marry the woman of his dreams. However, "getting rich" doesn't work out, so he pretends to have climbed the career ladder in order to impress the woman. In the end, he takes this ascent quite literally - the scene in which he hangs high above the traffic on the hand of a giant clock went down in film history.
Born in New York in 1936, composer Carl Davis is considered one of the most renowned and brilliant film composers of all time. He also composed "classical" works - which is not a matter of course for all film composers.
