In the organizer's words:
Bismut are a progressive heavy psych trio from Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In 2016, three friends drank some beer (and sparkling water), and decided they had no excuse not to play music together. Their varying approaches to music and different
influences soon blossomed into a fantastic, funky, doomy mix. Their style has been described as progressive rock, doom, metal, stoner, heavy psych, and plain old hard rock, but it may actually be instrumental death boogie. Needless to say, there's quite a
range of weird, wonderful sound to be had at a Bismut gig.
Since their inception, Bismut have played gigs all over Europe, from cozy clubs to sick stages on big festivals like Dunajam, Tabernas, Into the Void, Zwarte Cross, Sonic Whip, Stonerfall, Yellowstock, Desert Fest Antwerp, Alterna Sounds Fest,
and Psychedelic Network Festival.
Bismut have released two sold-out LPs with Lay Bare Recordings: Schwerpunkt in November 2018, and Retrocausality in September 2020. They are currently working hard on their third LP, which will further evolve their unique and unrelenting sound.
For this next chapter, Bismut have joined forces with Spanish Spinda Records, in addition to Lay Bare Recordings, to spread their psychedelic grooves even further across Europe.
Next: The World.
The four-man combo Schubmodul from the Ruhr area has gradually established itself in the scene over the last few years. Their album Lost in Kelp Forest, released in 2024 via Tonzonen Records, sold out quickly and received very positive feedback in reviews. Following this, the band played numerous energetic concerts, including together with Mars Red Sky, Planet of Zeus, Weite and Mos Generator.
Schubmodul's instrumental music contains elements from various styles, ranging from heavy to dreamy and often wrapped in a garment of psychedelic space sounds. Stories are told not through vocals but through creative songwriting in the listener's head, while the driving rhythms take the listener on a journey across sand dunes, mountains and lakes to alien planets. Schubmodul merges the worlds between crunchy progressive rock and traditional stoner that will get your head bobbing without a throttle.
Apewards from Marburg deliver a concentrated load of heavy fuzz rock. Their new album LIMINAL CHOICES (Tonzonen Records, May 2025) shows once again what the power trio stands for: punchy riffs, catchy melodies and a live energy that massages your neck.
Musically, Apewards are at home between the chairs: the drums hit hooks from driving soul grooves and massive doom passages and radiate the unbridled joy of playing of a Keith Moon. The bass provides a massive, powerful base, sometimes reminiscent of the uncompromising power of Rage Against the Machine, sometimes of the spacey groove of King Buffalo. And the guitar ignites a firework of thick riffs, delicate blues interludes and spacy psychedelic. At the center of Apewards' music, however, is the distinctive voice of Nico Gehle - raw, powerful and full of soul.
The trio puts on an extremely tight live show. This is not just any loud stoner jam. This is a precisely calculated punch in the gut. Anyone who appreciates Audioslave, All Them Witches or Greenleaf will immediately feel at home here.
