The musical "Hello, Dolly!" by Jerry Herman has been a hit since the 1960s, from Broadway (most recently with Bette Midler) to the film version with Barbra Streisand and Louis Armstrong's version of the title song.
Dolly Levi, a marriage broker, is herself looking for a husband and happiness and is not willing to accept the fate of an ageing widow. Quite the opposite. She returns to New York to her former haunt, where she is given a grand entrance: "Hello Dolly, this is Miss Dolly, it's so nice to have you back where you belong."
Gayle Tufts, known as entertainer, presenter, singer and "Germany's best-known American" (Stern Magazin) in the title role of Dolly, and director Frank Hilbrich bring Jerry Herman's 1964 Broadway musical into the here and now with a large dose of fun and even more self-irony.
