Helga Schütz was city writer in Mainz in 1991. The prize has been awarded by the city of Mainz, ZDF and 3Sat for 40 years. The prize includes the opportunity to produce a documentary for television on a topic of your choice. "Behind the Curtain a Shadow" focuses on Kazakhstan and the environmental catastrophe of the Aral Sea. The diary "Heimat, süße Heimat" was published at the same time. The book and film reflect on topics that are still relevant today. The discussion will focus on the social responsibility of writers and the interaction between literature and television.
