When long-standing certainties dissolve and failure in oneself and in the world determines everything, it is time to question familiar ways of thinking - even for Hoffmann. As an artist and as a man, he finds himself in a hopeless creative and relationship crisis and relives his failed love relationships with women in three stories. Perhaps a necessary process from which a new realization emerges for him?

Jacques Offenbach worked on the composition of his fantastic opera "The Tales of Hoffmann" until shortly before his death, but was unable to complete it. From the stories of the romantic poet E. T.A. Hoffmann, Offenbach created a dazzling interplay between reality and fiction in his opera.
