As deputy editor-in-chief of the small local gazette Grevenbroicher Tagblatt, Horst Schlämmer has a good nose for one thing: bad news. In view of the world situation and the problems right on his own doorstep, it's no wonder that his mood quickly plummets when he reads the news. You can't even drown your bad mood in alcohol, because pubs are dying out by the dozen. How can you get out of this slump and perhaps even find happiness again? Horst Schlämmer also asks himself this important question. Determined to find answers, he embarks on a journey across Germany - from south to north, by car, boat or, of necessity, on the inconvenient rail replacement service. It doesn't always seem as if his mission will end successfully. But Schlämmer never gives up...
