Hosting Events – Was bedeutet Essen für Sie bzw. für Dich?

In the organizer's words:

Hosting events in May with börek and tea - WHAT DOES EATING MEAN TO YOU?
Call for participation!

The MARKK is looking for people who are passionate about food and could imagine participating in a museum exhibition. You are invited to select food-related items, dishes and foodstuffs from the museum's worldwide collections and combine them with your own stories.

We would like to encourage people of all ages, social and cultural backgrounds to enter into a dialog with us. The aim is to make diverse voices audible in our museum. No previous knowledge is necessary.

What story or stories do you associate with food?
Food stands for joy and is often at the heart of communities. Food is also connected to global events. Colonialism and migration influence how supermarkets and gastronomy change around the world. Food brings people together, but can also serve processes of appropriation or exclusion.

The museum has kitchenware, historical photographs and utensils for dishes from many regions of the world that tell stories. We want to explore some of them together with you!

The museum invites all interested parties to a non-binding hosting event in April and/or May.
There will be a wide variety of börek and tea to eat, while we exchange ideas, explore a table full of smells and take a look at the MARKK collection.
You are welcome to bring along a personal food-related item or a recipe.
The hosting events will be held in German and English.

Registration at outreach@markk-hamburg.de or link in bio.
Spontaneous attendance is also welcome.
