At a costume party, there's a spark between Wonderwoman and Robin Hood, aka Kate and Steve. He's a feminist. So is she, somehow, but sometimes a man should take what he wants. Or should he? The spark turns into a fire and Steve begins his marriage proposal with an apology for the oppression of women that continues to this day. When Steve's parents get involved in the wedding - Steve's mother Morag (a peace activist in woollen clothing) and Kate's father Joe (who grew up in a refugee camp, old school) - disaster seems inevitable. After all, who would have thought that the two would get on so well . . .?
A tongue-in-cheek search for identity between two lovers in the emotional chaos of current emancipation processes and role clichés.
Samantha Ellis, born in London in 1975, writes radio plays, non-fiction books and plays. Her first book How to be a Heroine was published in 2014, followed in 2017 by the biography Take Courage: Anne Brontë and The Art of Life. HOW TO DATE A FEMINIST premiered in London in 2016 and had its German premiere in Karlsruhe in 2018. All six characters in the play are played by ensemble actors Rosana Cleve and Johannes Langer. The production is directed by Meinhard Zanger, with Italian artist Walter Picardi, who most recently lived in London, working as a guest stage and costume designer for the first time.
