Humbolting! Tauben, Erdbeeren, Zwickmühlen. Eine spielerische Audiotour

In the organizer's words:

A look behind the scenes at the Humboldt Forum - as part of "Humboldting! Schüler*innen forschen", young adults have investigated the day-to-day work of employees and provide astonishing insights into the small dramas of everyday life in a large cultural center in an audio tour.

The Humboldt Forum is a place where you can see exhibitions, attend a performance or take a look at the cake counter in the café with your great-aunt. It is also a place where many people work every day to ensure a warm welcome, accessibility, cleanliness and security. Who are the people who make exciting visits possible day after day and what do they experience in their service? What funny, intimate, strange moments do they experience and observe in contact with the visitors?

In collaboration with the Taiwanese artists' collective Prototype Paradise, pupils from the "Humboldting" project at the Thomas-Mann-Gymnasium in Berlin-Reinickendorf spoke to the staff and discovered exciting stories. In a playful audio tour, the pupils guide visitors through the Humboldt Forum and narrate their conversations with audio recordings. They talk about lost and found children, about controlling the pigeon population, about the feelings when eating strawberry cake and also about shared memories of this special place, where the Palace of the Republic once stood and before that the Berlin Palace.

An entertaining audio tour that shows the Humboldt Forum from an unusual perspective!

Schüler*innen forschen, a long-term project of the Humboldt Forum Foundation at the Berlin Palace at the interface of education and art. Artistic direction: Alice Fleming and Darren O'Donnell.

PARTICIPANTS

Yu-Ying (Yoyo) Kung

Yoyo Kung is the founder of Prototype Paradise (PP), a project-based theater collective in Taiwan. Everyday scenarios are usually the starting point for PP's performance projects. People who do not have an artistic background are invited as creative collaborators/performers and/or as participating spectators. With the aim of creating new insights and new connections between people in the neighborhood, PP often presents its performances in public spaces, e.g. at markets, in scooter workshops, in streets where the garbage collectors pick up household waste, etc.

Kung designs and initiates projects for PP. She also works as an independent curator and manager with arts organizations in Taiwan to encourage theater makers to involve new publics and new communities in the creative process. She holds an MA from the University of the Arts in Utrecht.
