Humorous imagery and quirky characters - two artists, two unmistakable styles

The works of Tina Conrads and Marina Krohs combine humor, character and artistic independence in a special way. Despite their different forms of expression, both artists share the joy of depicting people and motifs with a twinkle in their eyes, creating unmistakable worlds of images and figures.

Tina Conrads, born in Oldenburg in 1980 and now living in Ammerland, has dedicated herself entirely to painting since 2015. As an autodidact, she has developed an independent style that is characterized by bright colors, lightness and joie de vivre. Her acrylic paintings depict corpulent ladies, animals and coastal landscapes, among other things - always with a charming, humorous view of the world. Her works radiate a positive energy and invite you to leave everyday life behind for a moment.

Artist Marina Krohs (born 1964) takes a completely different but equally striking approach. For many years, she has been creating her characteristic "weird types" in her studio - delicate, often overdrawn clay figures that seem to stand on wobbly legs and yet have a strong presence. With a keen sense of detail and recognition, she creates personalities from art, politics and pop culture as well as bizarre everyday figures. Her works move between sculpture and narrative object and are reminiscent of Alberto Giacometti's filigree sculptures in their formal language.

While Conrads works with color and surface and Krohs shapes her figures sculpturally, both artistic positions meet in their humor and their ability to bring characters to life. Together they open up a multifaceted view of human idiosyncrasies - sometimes tongue-in-cheek, sometimes exaggerated, but always with great expressiveness.
