Reading and discussion with Ozan Zakariya Keskinkılıç.
Moderation: Gabriel Schimmeroth, MARKK
Ozan Zakariya Keskinkılıç reads from his award-winning debut novel "Hundesohn". The love story takes place between Berlin and Adana, between memory and desire. Zeko lives in Berlin, but his heart remains with Hassan, the boy next door from his summers in Turkey - known as the "son of a dog". When his grandfather dies, the old stories, smells and songs resurface. Zeko seeks closeness in cafés, in prayers, in other people's beds - always accompanied by the question of what love can endure between home, religion and desire. "Hundesohn" is a poetic, tender and unsparing tale of the search for oneself - and for what remains when everything foreign becomes familiar. Ozan Zakariya Keskinkılıç was nominated for the Clemens Brentano Prize and the Dresden Poetry Prize and was awarded the Wolfgang Weyrauch Prize 2025.
