We live in times of multiple crises and yet the downfall feels strangely unspectacular. There is no big bang: Pandemic as boredom, climate crisis as the occasional flood, fascism as a drizzle. We know that the world is coming to an end - but the waves still seem far enough away from us. At the same time, we see a recurring outcry that leads to and connects with a never-ending political inertia. In HYPER, cindy+cate tackles the question of why global crises are still perceived as future, even though all the facts point to the fact that we are right in the middle of it: Apocalypse now!

Over the course of three years and three plays, cindy+cate has explored German identity and politics, shedding light on the past, present and future. For the first time, HAMMER! offers the opportunity to experience Schwarz Rot Geil (2023), HomoDaddy (2025) and HYPER (2025) on three consecutive evenings. The trilogy is connected, but each piece can also be seen individually.
