HYPERVENTILATOR
is a dance concert for several performers, a Paetzold contrabass recorder and air bodies - connected by the medium of air.
Air surrounds us - it is an omnipresent and vital element. Its power can ignite fires and hurricanes. It influences the climate and drives the circulation of the planet. But most of the time, air remains imperceptible. It requires attentive listening and a degree of mindfulness to perceive the invisible medium. Especially at a time when we sometimes ask ourselves:
Do we still hear and perceive each other?
Air bodies and Paetzold contrabass recorder are connected via tubes and form a sound installation in which the flute is directly influenced by the air pressure of the air bodies and can thus be played by external movements. All the sounds recorded in advance come directly from the air mattresses and tubes, creating a subtle and atmospheric soundscape.
The breath remains audible - we experience a concert of our own breath throughout our lives - beginning with the first and ending with the last breath.
As a collaborative organism, zone[27] has functioned as a transdisciplinary art collective since 2021. Founded by Alba Glatz, Sophie Renger and Su Huber, the collective currently works with Phoebe Wong and KilometroCero. The individual and collective practices include performance, music, choreography, dance, light and sound design. With a focus on inter-bodily processes and listening as a practice, zone[27] creates multi-sensory spaces, performances and interventions. Together, the artists share a fascination for relationship, improvisation, presence and cross-media exchange.
HYPERVENTILATOR - the collective's most recent work was first shown at Zentralwäscherei Zürich (CH) in June 2024, with further performances in Vienna (AT) and Bern (CH).
Metastasis is an electro-acoustic, ambient, freely improvised noise music project founded in 2017 by Kuji Davituliani (electronics), Nasi Chavchavadze (cello) and Alexander Khokhiashvili (drums) during the anti-government demonstrations in Tbilisi, Georgia. The collective is inspired by the electronic music scene of the 50s and 60s. The band was part of the civic movement "White Noise", which campaigned against Georgia's brutal drug policy. Metastasis began with improvised performances during the demonstrations and soon developed into a full-fledged music project. Since then, Metastasis has become an important part of the experimental music scene in Tbilisi.
