The young linguist Martín loves indigenous languages. He documents them with a microphone and tape recorder to save them from extinction. The Zikril language is also in danger of disappearing. Martín therefore travels to a small Mexican village to find the last speakers. There he meets Don Isauro and Don Evaristo, the only ones who still understand Zikril. The two have been enemies for 50 years - allegedly because of the same woman in their youth. Together with Lluvia, Don Evaristo's granddaughter, Martín develops a plan to reconcile the old rivals. Deep in the jungle, a secret awaits that can only be revealed in Zikril.
