WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The gruesome drama on the Seine. The suffering, death and transfiguration of a mother whose child has been taken from her. And as a satyr play, the trickery of the most cunning heir hunter of the Middle Ages. Three self-contained operas whose stories have nothing to do with each other. Or do they? Il tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi - the three one-act operas that Giacomo Puccini summarized under the art-historical term "triptych" - are excerpts from reality: Instead of the futile attempt to depict the world as a whole in a grand opera as in a great novel, he sets three historical highlights, bundled together by music that knows how to eavesdrop on every nuance of human emotion, from merciless coldness to fervent passion. The different genres and moods of the works reflect the diversity of life and take the audience on an emotional journey.
