In the organizer's words:
Three one-act operas by Giacomo Puccini | libretti by Giuseppe Adami ("Il tabarro") and Giovacchino Forzano ("Gianni Schicchi" and "Suor Angelica") | in Italian with German surtitles
Duration: 3 hours | 1 intermission | for ages 16 and up
Eros and Thanatos, the drive to live and the drive to die are at the heart of these short operas, which are so different and yet so perfectly put together. Like a distillate, the three works concentrate the dramatic power of a full-length opera. And the wonderful intoxication they trigger can be enjoyed three times on this opera evening! The one-act operas take us from the foggy Seine in Paris to a remote monastery in Tuscany and right into the heart of lively Florence, each in its own unique way.

This is the dark story of a couple on a barge, estranged after a tragedy. A new love, jealousy and violence unfold in a confined space. There is the heartbreaking story of a young nun who keeps a secret and hopes in vain for forgiveness from her family. Does this forgiveness come from another, higher authority?
There is the cheeky story of the swindler Gianni Schicchi, who wants to put a stop to a group of even worse swindlers, namely a family gang eager for a rich inheritance! Lauretta's famous aria to her dear little father, "babbino caro", shows that Schicchi is only acting out of love for his daughter.
Light and shadow, secrets and revelations, natural and not so natural deaths await us. Let yourself be intoxicated!
