Four people from East and West meet for a fun barbecue on a warm summer evening at the campsite. The grilled sausage (from Thuringia, of course!) tastes delicious with Bautz'ner mustard and beer. We drink and sing. But the exuberant mood is shattered when someone suddenly shouts: "You colonized us in 1990!" The situation spirals out of control and a tangle of opinions, sensitivities and injuries triggers an emotional hurricane.

The play is based on specially researched stories from East Germany. These personal stories flash up like a mosaic and span a dramatic arc from '89 to the present day. IM OSTEN is a provocative and cheerful reappraisal of the post-reunification period that shakes up old certainties. With lots of humor and a live medley of East German classics.
