On September 14, 1955, Berlin's first park library opened its doors in the southern part of Bürgerpark Pankow. In 1978, the pavilion with its 12 square meters had finally become too small. The new building was erected in 1986. At the same location, but now 90 square meters in size with adjoining rooms. Until the turn of the millennium, the library was run by the Pankow district library. After that, it was only kept alive sporadically by volunteers. Then it was over. The building fell into disrepair and the books rotted away. In 2018, intrepid activists from the association FÜR PANKOW e.V. decided, together with the new tenant, to bring the park library back to life. The building was renovated, new books were collected and, with the support of many volunteers and sponsors, the park library was able to resume its work in April 2019. On 03.07.2025, this beautiful place will experience improv theater ... Come and be part of it!
