inter:Komm! Das zehnte interkulturelle Open Air in Reutlingen

For the 10th inter:Komm! festival, we have once again invited artists who are all cosmopolitan when it comes to world music. They present world music less as pure folklore and more as something musically idiosyncratic and outside the mainstream. On offer is a mixture of styles with elements of folk, rock, ska, jazz and electro, encompassing both the familiar and the unfamiliar.

Friday's music ranges from a Turkish rock band from Swabia to Afro-Caribbean house sounds from Colombia. It starts with Turkish rock and pop songs from five decades, performed by the seven members of the band Düz Viraj from Hechingen. The headliners are Ghetto Kumbé from Colombia, who fuse traditional Afro-Colombian percussion with electronic beats and samples. The aesthetic highlight of their live show is the neon-colored tribal masks and outfits.

The Belgian band Kolonel Djafaar will open the Saturday with a mixture of ethio-jazz and Afrobeat with a powerful use of wind instruments. They are followed by Nuju from Italy, who combine folk-pop-punk songs to create an urban mestizo sound. Turkish singer, songwriter, composer and producer Gaye Su Akyol combines the contrasts of traditional Anatolian music, classical Turkish music, psychedelia, surf rock and post-punk with her futuristic approach.
