Intervall & Zufall

PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

From June 21 to July 14, 2024, the ALLIGATOR GOZAIMASU collective will be a guest at the Kunstpavillon in the Old Botanical Garden.

The exhibition is based on a close network of musicians and visual artists.

ALLIGATOR GOZAIMASU (pronounced: go-sai-maas) is an open field for collective artistic encounters. Klaus Erika Dietl and Stephanie Müller laid the foundations for this international collective in 2015 in the underground scene of the Japanese twin city of Sapporo.

The name ALLIGATOR GOZAIMASU is a play on words, based on the Japanese "arigato gozaimsu", which means "thank you very much", but with a wink and a bite.

The exhibition "Interval & Chance" depicts work processes, shows found objects, self-made music, communication devices, an archive with relics of past performances, fragments and unvarnished pieces from the creative process "behind the scenes".

Artist collectives that are in contact with each other internationally are constantly challenged to keep a lively collaboration going. While some collective members have the privilege of moving freely in a productive environment, political, economic and social crises make it difficult for others to create.

The Munich core team of the Alligator Gozaimasu Collective is committed to never getting tired of continuing to communicate in order to deepen existing connections, even across distances.

With this in mind, online satellites were set up as part of the preparations. Artists who live far away (e.g. in Japan, Indonesia, Jordan) enter into an exchange with each other and develop contributions. Local and supra-regional artists dock on to this and use the works of the online satellites as productive resonance fields.

The exhibition will be opened by Karen Modrei on Thursday, June 20 at 7 pm. In her performance, the knitting machine becomes an instrument. The code of the sounds will be translated live into a knitted work.
