Almost 20 years ago, Sean Penn gave us this film adaptation of the life story of Christopher McCandless, aka “Supertramp.” One day, the young man in his early twenties decided to donate all his possessions and set out on a journey with no end in sight—delving ever deeper into the wilderness. As an ode to human connection, the film inspired an entire generation to not place too much importance on material things, but instead to cherish encounters with others and the beauty of nature.
