Locked up in her nursery, Iphigenia awaits her execution. It all begins with a curse that has been on her family since Tantalus. Later, her father Agamemnon triggers the Trojan War in revenge for the theft of Helen and angers the goddess Artemis by killing a sacred hind. The punishment: no wind. According to the seer Calchas, the war can only continue through the sacrifice of his daughter. In isolation, Iphigenia begins to doubt her role, her father and the system. Is there a way out of the millennia-old narrative that sees women only as victims, saints or witches?
