Irmgard Knef, Germany's most mature and longest-serving cabaret chansonnier and "old-school comedienne", is celebrating her 95th birthday with her new full-length show program.
"Barrier-free" is the title and motto of her show and her new phase of life.
She talks and sings about her everyday life in a retirement home and her visits and relationships with the service and care staff. All Knef, all diva, all heartfelt and intelligently hilarious great-grandma. Singing, swinging, disseusingly.

For the "Grande Dame of the semi-silk showbite", living barrier-free means no longer having to surrender to any hurdles. Not when it comes to meals and meal times, house rules and interpersonal conventions.
Irmgard Knef overcomes blockades in thought and action and doesn't mince her words on stage. Humorous, unconventional and so old-fashioned that it's more than retro again - it's hip!

Hildegard, who has long since left her sister Irmgard, would be proud of the tough unyieldingness of her smaller blood relative in spirit. Still alive and kicking and an intellectually fit witness to the past century, she is funny, sarcastic and cheerful in the first quarter of the 21st century.
An old tree that creaks but reliably sprouts wonderful blossoms.
