ISA MONA LISA is the ironic and playful title of an exhibition that provides lively insights into current contemporary art with over 30 works by international contemporary artists. The title is taken from a photograph of the same name by Wolfgang Tillmans (*1968) of his artist colleague Isa Genzken (*1948), both of whom are also represented with works in the exhibition. On display are numerous new acquisitions - purchases and donations - as well as loans from private collections and studios. A new cooperation with a private collection in Hamburg (Schmitz-Morkramer) makes it possible to show works by Elisa Alberti (*1992), Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010), Silke Otto-Knapp (1970-2022) and numerous works by Alexandra Bircken (*1967), among others. Specially designed artist rooms, such as the Salon Livresque (2014) by Thorsten Brinkmann (*1971), also provide a special impression of the polyphonic art of the present. Here, visitors can browse through the books in the quirky salon, which the artist originally set up for the villa of a Hamburg collector couple (Beer). The Japanese artist Asana Fujikawa (*1981), who lives in Hamburg, has dedicated a special room with ceramic sculptures, etchings and a text written on the walls to an invented story about mythical creatures, lust and murder.
