Hildegard Knef is the best singer in the world, without a voice" , quote: Ella Fitzgerald. She, in turn, is also known as "The First Lady of song". Frank Sinatra said: "Ella Fitzgerald is the only artist I've ever worked with who made me nervous. Because I'm trying to work my way up to her level .... I think she's the greatest pop singer in the world. Without exception, whether male or female."

These two women, these two voices could not be more different and yet they share a great love: music! Where Ella Fitzgerald lent her very own heart to the songs with her versatile and virtuoso voice, Hildegard Knef shaped and convinced with her emotionality, her almost speaking, very deep smoky singing and her great poetry. In 1999, one year before her death, Knef even received the German Jazz Award for the record "17 Millimeter". They both particularly loved the songs penned by Cole Porter. Songs like "The Lady is a tramp", "I ́ve got you under my skin", "Let ́s do it, let ́s fall in love" and many more. The Cole Porter Songbook is one of Ella's most important works. Hilde reworked and sang these songs in German.
