The Hollywood classic "It's A Wonderful Life" is a regular Christmas program in the USA. No wonder, the American adaptation of Dickens' Christmas story is as timeless as it is warm-hearted.
The Hamburg Players present the James Stewart classic in Joe Landry's stage version as a late 1940s radio broadcast: in a New York studio, actors, singers and noisemakers bring the small town of Bedford Falls to life.
The main character is idealistic everyman George Bailey: a dreamer, husband and father - and, as the owner of a small building society, the heart of the community. When he discovers one December night that his family business is unexpectedly facing bankruptcy, the desperate man wishes he had never been born. Fortunately for him and the rest of Bedford Falls, his guardian angel Clarence is determined to change George's mind - and finally earn his wings.
