Jagen & Sammeln Symposium "It's a meme"

In the organizer's words:

On December 6, we are dedicating an entire day to meme culture at this year's Hunting & Collecting Symposium "It's a meme" and you are cordially invited to join us and attend the annual gift reception afterwards. From funny cats to information dissemination, between doomscrolling and self-empowerment, our program is about ephemerality and longevity, community and exclusion, art and non-art, truth and lies. Memes are visual earworms, attention machines, snippets, remixes, recombinations, referential networks and creative forms of expression that can spread, have an impact, trigger emotions and be identity-forming or political. While the academic world is trying to grasp this phenomenon, memes have long been an indispensable part of everyday life for many.

Our following guests bring a variety of perspectives and offer lectures, artistic positions and media-critical impulses that convey basic knowledge, provide tools and take the first steps into the depths of internet culture:

Among them are the artists Max Kersting, Max Dauven and Lennard Hertz & Nathalie Schatz, the brains behind "Gustaver der Liebe" and Laura Hille. Research impulses will come from memecultures.de (sub-project of the Collaborative Research Center Intervening Arts) with Gwen Schlüter and Prof. Dr. Brigitte Weingart.
