This quote from jazz legend Steve Lacy has become the motto of the Berlin ensemble Oktopuzzle, which was founded in 2010.
Under the direction of Berlin bassist and composer Horst Nonnenmacher, the band has spent years developing a repertoire of titles by Horst Nonnenmacher, Hannes Zerbe, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Wayne Shorter and original compositions by the band members.
The band is characterized by energetic improvisations and communicative interplay.
Oktopuzzle has gained fans and routine in numerous concerts. For years, the ensemble has performed annually at the Berliner Jazztreff, with members of the band winning prizes each time. In 2013, the whole band won the "grand prize": a recording day at Blackbird Music Studio.
In 2023, the band recorded a live video, also a prize from the Berliner Jazztreff.
Oktopuzzle has recorded 5 albums over the years.
The latest CD "OKTOPUZZLE#5 "Traces" is of course included.
There will be a world premiere of the "GAS - Suite" (H. Nonnemacher) composed especially for the ensemble.

The trio, consisting of Chris Pitsiokos (alto saxophone, USA), Kalle Kalima (guitar, Finland) and Oliver Steidle (drums, Germany), unites three different origins, three different musical perspectives. A mixture of noise, jazz and free jazz. The result is unpredictable, but very precisely aimed at offering a raw and stirring sound experience. The trio knows how to play with joy, uncompromisingness and virtuosity and how to surprise.
