JAZZ KITCHEN PRESENTS: STRUNK

Strunk is pithy. Strunk is honest. Strunk is simple, but at the same time complex. Strunk pushes the boundaries. Strunk uses clichés, but also avoids them. Renegotiating established agreements on stage - that's Strunk.

Bassist Finn Clausen, who comes from Hanover, had long wanted to have his "own" ensemble. It was from this desire that he founded the band Strunk.
Inspired by the music of American drummer Paul Motian, among others, the quintet plays compositions that have a clear, individual character and yet form excellent vehicles for the development of each individual's ideas and interpretations. The five musicians are always keen to create something new, but they are also not afraid to fall back on the familiar. By playing together, they improvisationally explore all the possibilities that a piece offers for musical development and thus create new versions of their repertoire every time.
