Jazzmatazz / Ziggy Zeitgeist & Mauricio Fleury present: Dreams and other Themes

In the organizer's words:

ZIGGY ZEITGEIST / MAURICIO FLEURY  PRESENT :  ONEIRIC SOUNDSCAPES : DREAMS AND OTHER THEMES

The collaboration between Mauricio Fleury and Ziggy Zeitgeist was a natural musical alliance. Fleury is native to Sao Paulo, Zeitgeist from Melbourne.  Ziggy Zeitgeist is known for his work primarily with the crossover jazz project Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, and more recently running the In-House Label Energy Exchange Records, based between London and Berlin. Zeitgeist has previously worked with artists such as Allysha Joy, Wayne Snow, Abase, Oscar Jerome and Jitwam, to name a few. He is one of the founding members of Melbourne future soul collective 30/70.   Mauricio Fleury boasts a serious resume, having worked with a who’s who of Brazilian Jazz, MPB and Hip Hop, such as João Donato, Gal Costa, Liniker, Bixiga 70, Marcos Valle, Jair Rodrigues, Carlos Dafé, Tony Tornado and Emicida, as well as international artists like Tony Allen, Orlando Julius, Marlena Shaw and Ben Lamar Gay, among many others.  The two bonded first over obscure and rare groove records being played at dive bars around the city. Soon after they started writing and improvising together. The initial goal was to write Library music, to be pitched for synchronization in film and television. After early feedback from music publishers left them unsatisfied, the pair decided to finish the tracks to their own liking. They found the perfect partner in Tim Tabellion, fellow analogue studio freak and in-house engineer at Artistania Studios, Neukölln.   Together the three forged a sound rooted in a DIY, all-analogue approach to music production, summoning the spirits of 60’s and 70s pioneers of Brazilian Jazz and West Coast Spiritual Jazz with a healthy dose of Blaxpoitation and Italian Gangster film scores.   The result is ‘Dreams And Other Themes’   Nostalgic and summery moods perfect for bringing on those dreamy, groovy and hazy summer evenings that seem to expand endlessly!
