Quiet, subtle and beautiful - these are the words John Helliwell (SUPERTRAMP) uses to describe the music of IVYMIND. The band is a melting pot of country, folk and improvised music. An international, multi-generational combination of some of Europe's most versatile and dynamic musicians.
Think: "Bob Dylan" meets the warm instrumental combination of clarinet and guitar.
The band was founded by the renowned British jazz clarinettist Samantha Wright, who was Rolf Kühn's only clarinet student. She taught at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg from an early age and toured internationally as a soloist. A special new addition to the band is the well-known actor and musician Rainer Piwek.
IVYMIND has been working together for almost 3 years and is celebrating the release of their EP "Underground Country" this year.
A somewhat different jazz mile awaits the audience on this evening, where genre boundaries are explored through musical play.
