"Jesus as Doubter" is an arrangement and expansion of Bach's St. Mark Passion, combined by CONTINUUM in its characteristically unconventional approach with new texts by writer and spoken word artist Jürg Halter. A touchingly intense concert experience.
The St. Mark Passion is one of the most enigmatic works from Bach's creative period as Thomaskantor. Elina Albach and CONTINUUM take on the task of filling in the missing components of the Passion with contemporary interludes and arrangements informed by historical sources.
The writer and spoken word artist Jürg Halter will write texts based on the musically not handed down Passion texts and recitative dialogues, which he himself will recite performatively in the context of the music. In doing so, he imagines Jesus as a doubter and wonders what it would be like if Jesus had to suffer his Passion again today.
Once again, CONTINUUM takes on a Bach work with its characteristically unconventional approach, creating a touchingly intense concert experience.
