The end of rock'n'roll: in MYSTERY TRAIN, Jim Jarmusch pays homage to musical greats who worked in Memphis, first and foremost the King Elvis Presley. A nostalgic and poetic film about strangers in a foreign land, which combines drama and longing with humor and lightness and the voice of Tom Waits on the radio.

Twenty-four hours in Memphis, Tennessee: the Arcade Hotel is a meeting place for the most diverse fates. One room is occupied by Japanese tourists Jun and Mitzuko, who are following in the footsteps of their idol Elvis Presley. Italian widow Luisa is also staying at the same hotel. She has to share a room with the incessantly talking Dee Dee, who has just broken up with her boyfriend Johnny. And Johnny also ends up at the Arcade: drunk out of his mind, he is put up in a filthy room by his friends. Seemingly independent of each other, all the stories have one thing in common - a gunshot.
