Let's not kid ourselves: Cabaret is more important than ever these days! The perceived density of assholes and concentration of idiots, the glut of sourpusses and infestation of little shits, the general, pumice-hard dumbing-down and presenile numbness, in short: the cerebral decay in this country has, subjectively speaking, always been high, but now this grim fact can no longer be proven merely through experimentation; rather, it has become palpably evident to all of us who possess a developed humanoid sensibility—mind, wit, intellect, and taste—right out in the open. And there in the open air I camp, ready to stand in the way of this downright cerebral nonsense, girded with the sword of poetry, clad in the long underwear of comforting motherly wit, and continuing to forgo any pantomime. For as Erasco of Rotterdam already knew: Whoever knocks on the hollow often enough gives the void a sound.
