In "The Noise of Life", Jörg Hartmann tells his story and that of his parents and grandparents in a captivating way. It is a declaration of love to the power of family and to the Ruhr region. Whether it's about the situation of his deaf grandparents during National Socialism, the life wisdom of his mother, who ran a chip shop for a short time, the dementia of his father, who was a lathe operator and passionate handball player, the many bizarre experiences in the extended family or the key encounters he had as an actor - Hartmann always strikes a balance between tragedy and comedy.
His powerful narrative tone is personal, touching and humorous. And asks: Why do we always return to our roots?
Hartmann's aim is to capture the cycle of life: Parents and children, beginnings and endings, departures and arrivals, becoming and passing away - everything that is part of the beloved noise of life.
A wise book full of stories about origins and home and the desire to break away from them and move out into the world. An Éducation sentimentale and, incidentally, a history of the mentality of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Jörg Hartmann is one of the most important German character actors. Born in 1969, he grew up in Herdecke in the Ruhr area.
